November 11th, A Day For Mourning, A Day For Reflection With the chaos that comes with the beginning of the Holiday season, it is always nice to have a day for reflection and silence. But, last week the world took a day to remember those who had and are serving in the military, Veterans' Day.
Last Monday, the President of Cleveland State University met with the students for the first time to field their questions. The room, Main Classroom 134, was filled with students as well as the President's support staff. President Berkman proposed, "The headline could be 'Standing Room Only at President's Town Hall Meeting,'" but noted that SGA had chosen a smaller room for this political reason, but the room indeed had 73 seats, and there were people without a seat.
The Native American Heritage Celebration started at CSU on Nov. 5, the first of many events inside the programs to be displayed at the university. The event began at Cleveland state seven years ago, and has been held annually since. It is a wonderfully cultural experience in which people of all nationalities are invited to learn a little about this country's native peoples and their traditions and lives.
Students on campus are always searching for fun events and ways to get involved. With CABsino right around the corner, students will have to look no further. The night offers the perfect opportunity to meet fellow students, win some great prizes and have a memorable evening.
Last Thursday, students and professors were given a tutorial on online business strategies. The college of business hosted Creating Your Online Media Strategy: Broadcasting, Content Creation and Branding. It was presented by Denise Polverine, editor-in-chief of Cleveland.
On the 5th of November in Killeen Texas, Nidal Malik Hasan, a Major in the United States Army and a psychiatrist, went on a shooting rampage inside the Soldier Readiness Center of Fort Hood. The victims of this shooting were fellow United States soldiers, 13 of which died while 30 others were injured.
It is easy to see on the walk from Rhodes tower to the main classroom that the salmon pink mass to the south has begun to take shape. General fee student organizations were invited to attend a presentation last Tuesday on the details of their new home: the soon-to-be-completed student center.
Potential practitioners of public relations are in continual development at Cleveland State University (CSU). The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) specializes in professional development and encourages students to take their public relations education out of the classroom and into real world venues.
