Cleveland Museum of Art

One of the best things for us college students is that we get discounts all over our city.  If you look around, you will see how fun Cleveland can be.

Student Life hosts and promotes The City Is Our Campus Ticket Program.  And, the attractions associated with the program are just a small sampling of what Cleveland can offer the college student.

The program provides FREE entrance to the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), Cleveland Botanical Gardens, the Western Reserve Historical Society and the Natural History Museum with your Viking Card.

All Tower City Cinemas shows are $6.25 day or night with the trusty, Viking Card.  On Mondays everyone can get in for $5 and enjoy $1 off all candies and fountain drinks.  On Tuesdays a free popcorn comes with the admission price, and on Thursdays students get in for only $6.

Also, check out the Playhouse Square Center next to the Urban Building at CSU.  It has all the latest shows that come to Cleveland and at discounted prices for students, a quick call to the group sales office gets you in to specific showings.  If you prefer a show from some native Clevelanders, then the Cleveland Playhouse is the place to go.  With $6.00 matinees and weeknight performances with a valid Viking Card, it is just as much class without the extra cost.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is slightly more pricey, but the $5.00 OFF helps.  The Rock Hall is not somewhere cheap to visit all the time, but it is a museum that you should not leave Cleveland without seeing at least once.

The Cleveland Art Museum always has FREE admission to the general collection.  An often overlooked aspect of the Cleveland Art Museum is the reflecting pool and park behind the museum, which is a beautiful spot to visit, especially in the spring when the cherry blossom trees are in bloom.

The Cleveland Orchestra plays concerts all the time, and with your Viking Card and a free Student Advantage Membership, you can enjoy them for only $10.00.  If you happen to want to bring someone who is not a college student, you can even get them a $10 ticket because you can purchase two $10 tickets with your student identification card.  A trip to the ticket window up to an hour before the performance can secure you these tickets.

For the sports fanatics, remember that all CSU home games are free with your Viking Card.  And it seems that CSU teams win quite a bit more than the professional Cleveland teams.

If you really must see the professional teams in hopes that they might win, then keep your eye pealed for the special offers through Student Life for discounted tickets.  And, for those who like to see the Indians, even when they lose, there are College ID nights for select Friday home game.  Those Friday nights, students get half price on bleacher, upper box, and upper and lower reserved seats.

Some of the coolest and most versatile places to visit in the Cleveland area are outdoors and FREE!  Just to the west of downtown is Edgewater Park.  There is a large grassy area perfect for picnics, pick-up sporting games, and flying kites, which is surrounded by a multiuse path that continues up a huge hill and around.  Also, the park has a beach for those who love swimming, tanning, and sand castle building.
