The Soccer teams play on Krenzler Field.

It is your first year at Cleveland State looking for something to do on campus while you waste the hours away that you could be studying. Look no further, for Cleveland State has athletics to help you have fun. This guide will help you prepare for games.

The Wolstein Center, which holds Men’s and Women’s basketball, was built in 1991 and is known as the largest college-owned basketball arena in the State of Ohio. The arena holds 13,610 and is state of the art with a bunch of scoreboards and work out facilities for both teams.

After going to most of the basketball games in the past two years, I have discovered that there is only one place that has the greatest atmosphere. This is the student section, also known as the Berserker Club, and it sits right behind the basket and has our teams’ bench to our right. In the student section we have a couple of rules: everyone stands and everyone screams. We all get together and start chants and it creates an atmosphere like what's seen on T.V.

The Krenzler Field facility is named after the Judge and former Board of Trustee Alvin Krenzler because of his generous contribution, which was the largest single gift to CSU athletics. The field was built in 1985 and was the first outdoor athletic facility. It can hold 1,680 and has gone through some renovations. These renovations include a new artificial field as well as a new dome to make the facility a year round place to play.

The Men’s and Women’s soccer teams are not the only ones to play at Krenzler Field. During the winter the baseball and softball teams practice there. The golf team also practices here and sets up indoor driving ranges as well.

The soccer teams play during the fall semester. There are a lot of places to sit, depending on how you would like to enjoy the game. If you really want to get into the action, then I suggest that you stand by the concrete boarder that sections off the field from the fans. The concrete border lets you really get into the players’ heads.

Another great facility is the Woodling Gym. The gym is inside the physical education building and seats 3,000 people. The volleyball, wrestling, and fencing teams use the facility.

With the stands only on one side of the gym, the best place to sit for a volleyball game is on the opponents’ side. This is a great place because if you start a lot of chants you can be heard throughout the entire gym and mess with the other team. Also, if you want to just heckle at the opponents then this is a great spot for you.

It is kind of hard to watch America’s past time of baseball because the baseball team plays in Lorain, but the softball team does play on campus. They play at the Viking Field which opened in 1988 and holds up to 500 fans. The field recently got a new press box that the team’s friends helped construct. The school is looking into further renovations as they get ready to work on a baseball stadium on campus.

With all of the players’ parents there rooting for their kids there is never a dull game. My advice is either stand in the outfield behind the fence or hang out and enjoy a softball game with the rest of the Viking softball

So if youre bored or looking for something to do come on out to any athletic event, they are a lot of fun. The schedules can be found on the CSU website under athletics.
